5,000 acre private conservancy of unscathed virgin bush, the Olerai Conservancy was set up through the goodwill of tribal landowners to expand wildlife ranges and migration routes.

Untouched protected natural habitat

The Olerai Conservancy is a conservancy of the Maasai tribe consisting of thousands of acres of untouched unspoiled arid land and lush vegetation. It’s no wonder then that a unique gathering of animals call this sacred area of land home, where if you look closely, you might catch a glimpse of the extraordinary giraffe, lion, cheetah, and even elephants roaming in and through this thriving ecosystem.

The story behind the name

"Olerai" is a Maasai name for the yellow-barked acacia xanthophloea, a characteristic vegetation among the diverse indigenous trees and shrubs currently protected in the area.
