Africa Eco Adventures Ltd offers balloon flights in Kenya’s famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. The Mara is the northernmost part of the spectacular Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, home to the “Great Migration” and scores of other wildlife, including lions, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, hippos, and crocodiles.
The company’s owners have over 50 years of collective experience flying balloons and hosting safari guests in the Mara, as well as other parts of East Africa. Our flights team is managed by the director of operations, retired Captain Andrew Peart, who has over 25 years of flying experience. Our Chief pilot is Captain Rizwan Jiwa, born and raised in Kenya with immense wildlife guiding background both in Amboseli and Maasai Mara game reserves. In his own words – “I’m a safari guide that flies”. Captain David Nguruga caps it up with a wealth of experience, having started his internship in the Mara.
Our fleet of six balloons consists of three Cameron 415s balloons with a capacity of 16 passengers each, one 12-seater, one eight-seater and a small four-seater balloon (ideal for couples, photography, honeymooners or special occasions, subject to availability).
We’re committed conservationists and continually strive to minimise our impact on the ecosystem. From choosing the colours of our balloons, lowering the burner noise, and training each member of our staff, we are doing all we can to safeguard this beautiful and important game reserve for future generations.
We have a very strong relationship with the local Maasai community and often invite our neighbours to come and fly with us. Almost all our staff are from the Masai community to further improve the livelihoods of our neighbours.
We are a Tourism Partner of the Kenya Wildlife Trust, and a portion of every flight fee goes directly to worthy conservation projects in the Mara area. Gliding silently over the savannah is 360 degrees of spectacular beauty!
Start your day hot air ballooning in Maasai Mara, it is one of the most magical ways to experience Kenya’s vast savannah and wildlife.
As you rise the Maasai Mara plains opens up before your eyes to feast on the golden sunrise, enchanting sceneries, plains-game below as the winds gently blows the basket deeper into the reserve.
